The Bridge: Love Requires Action - Designing for charity

I found The Bridge by browsing to one of my old friend's MySpace page, where I noticed the design had been altered and the link credit took me to the place where she made it. Glue, Inc.'s The Bridge is a fascinating concept. Build a digital Bridge around the world, one Mile at a time, to help support causes that *YOU* care about. 24,196 miles, one at a time. The Bridge is built by designers and other people who are interested in helping make a difference. The Bridge consists of art and design contributions depicting how people are concerned about changing the world. People are invited to contribute more than once. Each contribution equals one Mile. I was Mile # 769. For every Mile that artists contribute to The Bridge, the corporate sponsors will donate one dollar to the cause that you choose your Bridge to be about. The Bridge is a part of The Glue Network and the corporate sponsors include Adobe (donates to Unicef) and Quicksilver (donates to Surfrider) among others. Build your Bridge today, and help make a difference in your world.

Real Spidey Suits?

http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/entertainment/2006-07/24/xin_43070324085589029441.jpg8geko.jpg

Researchers at BAE systems have developed a technology that mimic's gecko feet. The feet of a gecko feature hairs that are so small that the develop molecular bonds with the surfaces that they come in contact with. One square meter of the stuff could hold my mom's hyundai to the ceiling. Real life Spider-man suits like these could possibly introduce humanity to new forms of sporting events.

AMOEBA draws letters on water surface

Japanese research scientists have developed the AMOEBA machine (Advanced Multiple Organized Experimental Basin), consisting of 50 wave pulse generators around a 4" pool of water. The waves are controlled by computer to simultaneously produce imagery on the water's surface.
